Hi! I’m Charles, an LA-based filmmaker from the other side of the country: central North Carolina. I’m passionate about the poetic capabilities of image and rhythm and I’d love to grab a coffee and chat about the long takes of Theo Angelopoulos or the vacuous modernity of Michelangelo Antonioni. But I didn’t get into making movies off anything so high-minded. In junior year of high school my buddies and I had to make a 3-minute sketch video about the current topic in American History. The final product was a 25 minute Phineas and Ferb spoof shot on school iPads and edited in iMovie, and I remember thinking: I could do this for a living.

I’m at home on set. I love taking an idea and putting it on a screen. I love taking what someone has on the inside and sharing it around. Being dedicated to rigorous ideas and possessing a blue-collar spirit of workmanship are equally critical. I like to shoot because I get to face a totally new challenge with each project - an airy comedy one week, a thriller the next, a music video, an art film, a horror. It’s the best job in the world.
